The Era of Films

Sample Writing:

Nowadays it is not only large companies that can be able to make films. Digital technology enables anyone to produce films. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

In this modern age, the spread and increasing capabilities of digital technology has sparked a debate surrounding the influx of amateur filmmakers. The arguments, however, have ended in the question of the influence this phenomenon exerts on the audience and the film industry. From my perspective, such development catalyses significant positive changes to the trade as a whole.

To commence with, the rise of the film industry can provide the general public with a greater range of movies. This is because with the availability of computer animation as well as digital cameras, the expansion of media culture has opened up more opportunities for the distribution of tailor-made films. In the same manner, this has given wider circulation and easier access to works made throughout the world. Accordingly, movie content, editing and directing styles will become more and more diversified for an increasing number of audience.

Secondly, the fact that films can be produced by those other than big companies also benefits the film industry in the long term. With film-making becoming increasingly common, communities of aspiring or amateur filmmakers can be established. In these communities, they can share their ideas or experience, learn from and even collaborate with each other in cinematic projects. Furthermore, these communities can serve as a platform for talented directors to promote themselves through their cinematic works, thereby gaining more publicity and potentially drawing the attention of large film studios.

To conclude, for the above-stated reasons, the fact that technological advancements enable worldwide film production and distribution also significantly contributes to the rapid growth of the film industry, thereby allowing a diverse source of entertainment and perspectives on life.
